Many years ago, I lost my dear sweet Pekingese. Devastated, I reached out to Hackettstown Animal Hospital looking for a place to donate his many beds, blankets, and toys. They suggested Barnyard Sanctuary (thank you Patty!)
The first time I visited with my car load of donations, I was greeted with horses and mules grazing in the fields, pastures of cows, a menagerie of goats, and four of the biggest, most sweet piggies I have ever met – Miss Savannah Red, Miss Scarlet, Mr. Eddie Black and Miss Piggy White. I didn’t want to leave them, and I thought, “what an amazing rescue group, giving a home, care, and love to all these babies so desperately in need.”
On the ride home, I was already formulating a silly story about the piggies, the other animals at the Sanctuary, and the caring volunteers who give so much of themselves to help all these beautiful animals. That was the beginning of this story, “Piggies’ Home Sweet Home”.
I started a draft and sketched a few drawings, but life happens and many years passed, and so did two more of my beloved Pekingese, and one of the four piggies. One day, I heard that the Sanctuary needed to find a new farm and donations were desperately needed for this enormous undertaking. This inspired me to take out my pencils and paints and finally finish “Piggies’ Home Sweet Home”. The Piggies story needed to be heard! and I wanted to do my part to help raise the much needed donations for the animals and volunteers at #TheBarnyardSanctuary.
So here we are today! The animals are enjoying their beautiful new home at a sprawling farm, and #TheBarnyardSanctuary perseveres because of the monumental efforts and leadership of Tamala Lester Morrell.
But the monthly expenses never cease, and it is my hope that you will purchase “Piggie’s Home Sweet Home” and tell your friends and family. I profit nothing from this book and will personally cover all expenses, including shipping, so 100% of monies collected goes directly to The Barnyard Sanctuary and their tireless efforts. And it’s my hope that you consider volunteering and put your mind and creativity to work to come up with ways to raise monies for help all these angels! They sky is the limit!
